I’m initiating this website and these blogs as a focus place for sharing and hearing thoughts on SpectrumEngagement.
My specialty within political science is constituent engagement.
SpectrumEngagement Premises
This has brought me to three primary premises to achieve SpectrumEngagement.
1. Constituent Engagement is three-directional within any delineated realm:
- Leaders engaging constituents,
- Constituents engaging leaders,
- Constituents engaging mutually.
2. There are three components of comprehensive constituent engagement:
A. A complete database of constituents within the delineated realm,
B. Spectrum Engagement – demographic and geographically inclusive,
C. Relationship Formation.
3. Spectrum Engagement encompasses the full realm.
It is not the two sides, as we are currently manipulated into articulating and envisioning as two sides divided by a gap in our society, or the “aisle” in the legislature.
To Build a Better Society – Language Which Includes All The People
So, the focus of this website and blog is finding our way back to the vision of a society on the path to achieving the pluralistic, inclusive democratic society.
I sense that in our era, we are supposed to see everyone on one of two sides. Each side is expected to resent everyone not on “their” side. And they will be resented by everyone on the other side.
It is presumed that it’s necessary that we each determine which is our side. Furthermore, we are, or have been, pummeled with a “label” given each side and that it is everyone’s responsibility to make that choice, for the sake of personal success and national survival.
Only of late are the trends driving that “reality” being replaced with an articulation of a wider range of options which depicts everyone finding their place within a full spectrum. The spectrum includes the full range of identification which is not segmented into given subsets and which does not exclude the ranges which occupy the area between the sides.
